Century Farm
The goal of the SD Century Farm Program is to recognize farms and ranches that have been in the same family for 100 years or more. The SD Century Farm Program is a cooperative effort of the SD Farm Bureau and the SD Department of Agriculture. Since the program began in 1984, to date 2,403 farms and ranches across South Dakota have been recognized.

When will I be notified if my farm is accepted?
You will be notified by letter as soon as possible after the application is received.
When and where does the recognition take place?
The recognition takes place at the SD State Fair, Dakotaland stage, on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 10:30 am.

What happens on the day of recognition?
The program begins at 10:30 am with comments from the SD Secretary of Agriculture and the SD Farm Bureau president. Recipients will be asked to come on the stage to receive a gate sign, Century Farm Certificate, and Century Farm Buttons. At this time you will be allowed to give a few brief comments about your farm or ranch. After you exit the stage you and your family’s picture will be taken by Farm Bureau staff. A copy along with a brief news release will be sent to you. At the conclusion of the program you will be given a complimentary pork BBQ lunch.
